Simply uncivilised acts

Two brutal events – one in India and another in Pakistan – signals of total insecurity of women in those two countries, disrespect for human rights and democracy. What happened in Pakistan is more horrendous than what took place in India. The ill-fatted woman was forced to gang raped for the alleged fault of his brother. The order runs counter to the values the holy Quran upholds. The members of the village panchayet who passed the brutal order and those who supported the unjust verdict must be brought to justice and no leniency should be shown. We read in the Quran, Surah An’Am, Verse No.165, Surah An Najm, Verse No. 38, “No bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another.”

The people of Pakistan have perhaps forgotten that the first Muslim is a woman, the first martyr in Islam is also a woman and paradise lies at the feet of mother. Unless they learn these, injustice to women shall continue there.

.In India, the women have been living in extreme uncertainty. Capital Delhi is a city of rape. What happened to a woman by the order of the village panchayet is terrible but not surprising. The more shocking was that the woman was raped by 14 men, one after another, and the scene was viewed live by the villagers, including children. I do not know whether the ill-fatted woman shall get justice and the criminals will be punished duly.
