Police have recovered the body of a teenage boy in Rangpur’s Pirganj Upazila. There are marks of injury on the neck of the deceased Shibli Mandal, 17, Pirganj police OC Rezaul Karim said on Thursday.
“We suspect that Shibli was strangled to death.” He told bdnews24.com that the college student’s body was found lying beside a road in Burirpukur area in Shanerhat Union in the morning.
Shibli was an 11th grader at Shothhibari Degree College in Mithapukur.
Quoting family, OC Karim said that some youths had come looking for Shibli at his home and left with him around 8pm
on Wednesday. He was missing since then. After an overnight search, his body was found some half a kilometres away from his home. Police recovered the body afterwards and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
