Police recovered the body of a college girl from a ditch at Khalishakuri village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday, 15 days after she had gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Rikta Akter,17, first year student of Pathraj College in Boda upazila of Panchgarh district and daughter of Jamaluddin, a resident of the village.
Sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Sirajuddoula said Rikta had remained missing since September 23.
Later, Rikta’s father Jamaluddin lodged a general diary with the police station.
Local people spotted the body of Rikta floating in the ditch in the afternoon and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The reason behind the death would be known after getting the autopsy report, the SI added.
