The BNP on Friday marked the crossfire as a war against the people of Bangladesh.
“The government has started a war against the country and its people in the name of arresting militants and terrorists, said the party’s Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office on Friday. Rizvi said, the government has made the State an oppressing instrument, to suppress the democratic forces and the voting rights.
“The government has surrendered the national independence and the sovereignty to a third country only to remain in power,” he said.
The BNP leader cited the incident of the fugitive MP Amanur Rahman Khan Rana, who attended the Parliament session before the very eyes of the police.
He said, “It is not comprehensible how did a murder case accused attend the Parliament session, sign attendance register and leave the House when the court ordered arrest and confiscation of his assets?”
“The Prime Minister of the voter-less government said, she has every information about those who are executing secret killing. If it is so how did a fugitive enter the Parliament and leave after the attendance book?”
He raised a question that if the killers enter in there, then how the security of the Parliament will be remained?
Rizvi Ahmed criticized the ruling Awami League’s student wing Chhatra League for attacking an Ifter Mahfil of BNP at Senbagh Upazila of Noakhali district on Thursday.
BNP Joint-Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal, Khairul Kabir Khokon, central leader Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu and Emran Saleh Prince, among others, were present in the briefing.
