A college girl (19) of village Sayedmahalla under Fakirhat Upazila in the district was violated by a married man of the same village.
The girl tried to commit suicide and the rapist was arrested, according to a delayed report received here.
Police and locals said that on October 14 at noon the girl who is a student of Khulna Polytechnic Institute was alone in her residence and all other members of the family were absent from the house. Taking the opportunity Shaikh Md. Alam (32), father of child and son of one late Shaikh Mohammad. Ali of the same village entered the house and committed rape on her forcibly. At that time the debauched recorded the obscene with a video camera very tactfully.. But the girl did not disclose the matter to any body for the sake of public disgrace. On December 14 the rapist tried to commit rape on the girl once again, but in vain. Then the rapist became furious and threatened her that he would release the obscene recorded in the video camera in the internet.
On the other hand, the matter was, some how, leaked out in the localities. Finding no other alternative the girl tried to commit suicide in order to get relief from the public disgrace and fell ill. She was admitted to Fakirhnat Upazila Health Complex for her treatment. The local people brought the matter to the notice of the police of Fakirhat PS. It was learnt from SI Asaduzzaman, Investigating Officer of the case that police had arrested the rapist from his residence on December 15 at night and had sent him to the jail hajat.
