Climate change has created severe health hazardous among the people, especially in the children and women, sources said.
People from different districts across the country have been infected with new types of skin diseases related with the extreme hot weather.
People from Faridpur district said that many of them, especially women and children, are suffering from extreme itching with rashes for long since the extreme hot weather began.
“The skin disease has not been cured yet even after consulting many doctors and spending huge money in the past several months,” said Shameem Abdul Malek from Alfadanga of Faridpur district.
He said that some of his family members with the other neighbours are also infected with such a skin disease which they never experienced before.
Meanwhile, other health related disorders were also found there including diarrhoea and losing temper due to the extraordinary hot weather.
When contacted, Dr. Shah Mohammad Bodruddoza, Deputy Civil Surgeon of Faridpur Civil Surgeon Office told The New Nation on Wednesday, “The extreme hot weather causes several health hazardous including skin diseases and diarrhoea and such other types of disorders.”
He said that his office is alert and monitoring the peoples’ health problem closely.
When contacted, Professor Dr. Tahmina Shirin, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR), told The New Nation, “Skin disease like allergic problem among the people might be the results of the unusual hot weather resulting the climate change.”
She said that IEDCR will collect report and take necessary measures in this regards.
Public Health Experts said the problem could be due to hot weather.
They said that not only skin diseases, the extraordinary hot climate also caused mental health hazardous like temper loss and such others.
When contacted, Professor Dr. M. Muzaherul Huq, former Adviser of the World Health Organisation (WHO) told The New Nation, “Such problems might cause rashes on the peoples’ skin. It can cause allergic rashes which we call sun rash. The possibility is hot warm weather with sun rays.”
The Professor said, “There are people sensitive to it and suffers from allergy with skin rash.”
He said that the climate changes are happening due to carbon emissions as well as destructions of forests and greeneries. UN is always requesting countries of the world to reduce carbon emissions.
The health experts asked the worm weather sensitive people to avoid sun.
“We should avoid outing and sun exposure. Treat rashes or eruptions and itching by skin specialists and experienced physicians,” the Professor recommended.
The infected persons should drink plenty of water. Sun stroke be treated in emergencies, he suggested.
The Professor also asked the government to be serious to reduce carbon emissions and increase green forests and protect the existing.
