World number 77 Sorana Cirstea of Romania produced a sparkling performance to come from behind and beat No. 9 seed Johanna Konta of Britain 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 in almost three hours to move into third round of the US Open on Thursday. The first set was dominated by the world No. 13, but Cirstea hung tough in the second and pinched it in the tiebreak. After that, Cirstea never looked back. “Surprised? No. Frustrated? Obviously,” said Konta. “I think what we’ve seen time and time again in every tournament is that these are the best players in the world, so on any given day they can play incredible tennis.”
