Child marriage stopped due to intervention of Bijoynagar administration

In Brahmanbaria’s Bijoynagar upazila, a teenager was saved from child marriage due to the intervention of the administration.
On Thursday, December 10, 2020 at noon, Momena Akhter (pseudonym), daughter of Abdul Mobin (pseudonym) Mia of Vitidaudpur village in Paharpur UP, got the news that she was getting married before she turned 18 years. Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbubur Rahman came to the spot and stopped the child marriage.
At that time, in the presence of the local people’s representative, the information mother, and the dignitaries, the girl’s parents promised not to give the child marriage of the teenage girl.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbubur Rahman addressed the gathering. He warned if a person disobeys a government order of not to marry before the age of 18, he will be punished with both jail and fine under the Prevention of Child Marriage Act.
