Stock closes mixed

Stock market on Wednesday closed mixed, with the broader price index gaining and the selective indices finishing in red. The daily turnover also showed mix trend when trade value rose, but volume declined.
DSEX, the benchmark index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), inched up close at 4802.27 when the blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES ended lower at 1786.17 and 1133.70 respectively. The daily trade value rose to Taka 259 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 248 crore, but the volume fell to 7.59 crore shares from 7.81 crore shares of the previous session.
Most of the traded issues incurred loss on sell pressure. Out of the traded 310 scrips, 124 gained, 145 declined and 41 remained static.
SPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by City Bank, Ifad Autos, Lafarge Surma and MJLBD.
The day’s major gainers were ICBAMCL2nd, Exim1stMF and Trust Bank when the major losers included SPCL, BSC, Family Tex, BD Autocar and Dulamia Cotton.
