Check for Manikganj land acquisition handed to owners

Compensation check for land acquisition in Ghior, Manikganj has been distributed on Thursday. Compensation checks worth Tk 7,03,55,175 were given to 16 families at the initiative of the 6th km long PC girder bridge construction project of “Barangail-Ghior-Tangail” road at Battala intersection of UpazilaSadar.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner SM Ferdous distributed compensation checks as the chief guest.
Upazila Executive Officer Irene Akhter presided over the function where Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) MushammatShahida Akhter, District Land Acquisition Officer ChaitiSarvaVidya, Assistant Commissioner (Land) WadiaSabab, Manikganj Roads and District Executive Engineer Md. Gaus-ul-HasanMaruf, GhiorUpazila Chairman Md. Habibur Rahman Habib were present as special guests.
Among others, District Council Member Md. Mahabubur Rahman Johnny, Vice Chairman Md. Istiaq Ahmed Shamim, Ghior UP Chairman Md. Ahidul Islam Tutul were present on the occasion.
According to Manikganj Roads and Urban Development Department, lands of many locals were acquired for the construction of 6 km 103.43 meter long PC girder bridge and approach road at Battala intersection of Ghiorupazila.
The government had earlier distributed compensation checks to people on the north side of the river. In the second phase, checks were distributed among 16 families. The rest will be given compensation checks to all landowners in phases.
The construction work of Dhaka-Manikganj-Tangail regional highway will be completed by next December. After 50 years of independence, the construction of the bridge over the Dhaleshari River in Ghior and the completion of this road will enable thousands of people in 3 districts to reach the capital Dhaka in less time.
