A Dhaka court yesterday took cognizance of the charge sheet against eight people, including Ansarullah Bangla Team chief Mufti Jasimuddin Rahmani, in the blogger Ahmed Rajib Haider murder case.
Judge Md Jahurul Haque of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court took the cognizance of the case and fixed October 30 for hearing on charge framing. The court also sent the case tothe Fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for the hearing.
The other accused persons are North South University students Redwanul Azad Rano, 30, Maksudul Hasan alias Anik, 26, Md Faisal Bin Nayem alias Dweep, 22, Md Ehsan Reza alias Rumman, 23, Nayem Sikder alias Irad, 19, Nafiz Imtiaz, 22 and Sadman Yasir Mahmud, 20.
Of the accused, Rano is on the run while Jasimuddin and six others are in jail custody. The were produced to the court yesterday.
Ahmed Rajib Haider, an activist of Shahbagh movement demanding death penalty for war criminals, was hacked to death in the capital’s Pallabi area on February 15 last year.
