The BNP on Thursday said the Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda made worst joke with the nation saying that the upazila polls will be as free and fair as the general election was.
“The CEC makes historic jokes saying the upazila election will be fair like the December 30s general polls,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while addressing a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
Rizvi said, “The CEC helped the ruling Awmai League to snatch people’s voting rights, but he had not any remorse.
Instead, he made jokes with the nation about the so-called fair polls.”
“The CEC and the other ECs do not respect values. They have given up their ethics for the victory of Awami League. They coordinated the vote rigging on the night before the election day,” Rizvi said.
The CEC and other ECs worked to destroy a fair and inclusive polls system only to make AL victorious.
The BNP leader asked the people to make its February 8 rally a success to strengthening the party Chief Khaleda Zia’s release movement.
He said BNP’s rally on the day will start at 2 pm at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
He said, the party has sent letter to police regarding these.
