A total of 80 police personnel have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, raising the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the police force to 1,509 across the country. Of them, 708 are the members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
So far, six police members died from the disease.
DMP said, two Additional Deputy Commissioners and an Assistant Commissioner
are among the infected members. According to different police units of the country, 466 members of police have been put in isolation and 2,870 in quarantine. So far, 110 cops have been cured from the disease. However, a visiting team headed by Joint Commissioner of DMP Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman was formed to look after the corona infected police members. The other members of the team are Additional Deputy Commissioner R M Foyzur Rahman and Assistant Commissioner Md Ashik Hasan. They already visited the corona infected police members at Rajarbag Central Police Hospital and Traffic barrack of DMP.
