Car bomb blast kills 4 in Baghdad

A car bomb blast near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has killed at least four people and injured another 20.

The explosion took place on Thursday in front of a second-hand goods market in the country’s suburbs, police said.

A statement from the Iraqi military said the explosion killed a civilian and wounding 12 others, however, medical workers in Sadr City informed that four people were killed in the attack.

At that time, several vehicles in the vicinity caught fire.

Witnesses said black smoke billowed from the blast. Several ambulances rushed to the spot to rescue the victims.

Police have cordoned off the area since the blast. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

This is the second-highest number of suicide bombings this year after 32 people were killed in an IS suicide bombing in Baghdad in January.
