Campaign for UZ polls gears up in Sylhet

The candidates of the upazila polls in Sylhet have started massive campaigns to revitalise the grassroots supporters and woo voters to win the upcoming upazila polls.
The candidates and their supporters are busy meeting the grassroots level leaders, workers and mass people in respective upazilas to drum up support. Candidates from the Awami League, BNP, Jamaat-e-Islam and CPB are contesting the upazila polls in 6 upazilas of Sylhet.
The returning officer distributed election symbols among the candidates on February 4 after deadline for the withdrawal of candidatures ended on February 6.
In the first phase, election will be held in Jokigonj, Jointapur, Companygonj, Biswnath, Golapgonj and Goinghat upazila of Sylhet on February 19.
The candidates are holding meetings and addressing gatherings at marketsplaces, tea stalls, shops, party offices and other locations to make mass contact and secure votes in the upazila polls.
