Call to create anti-corruption sentiment among people

Speakers at a function underscored the need for creating anti corruption sentiment among the people, particularly the young future generation of the country, to lead the nation towards desired development.
Prevention of corruption is not possible by enacting laws, in this context, district corruption prevention committee (DCPC), Gaibandha and the integrity unit could play significant role to eradicate corruption from the society, they viewed.
They made the comments while addressing a workshop on the role of corruption prevention committee and the integrity unit at the conference room of district collectorate building in Gaibandha.
DCPC organized the function in cooperation with district administration while chairman of DCPC Professor Mokhlesur Rahman presided over the workshop.
Deputy Commissioner M. Abdus Samad addressed the workshop as chief guest and director of Anti Corruption Commission, Rajshahi division, M. Abu Sayeed was present at the event as special guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by additional deputy commissioner (General) M. Shamsul Azam, deputy director of the ACC M. Mozahar Ali Sarder, and additional police super M. Faruque Hossain.
Many recommendations were also adopted from comments made by the participants during the group discussion sessions on how the DCPC could be more dynamic side by side with making the formation of integrity unit at different academic institutions successful.
DC M. Abdus Samad said corruption must be resisted through collective efforts of all quarters and the students of the academic institutions should be briefed about anti corruption sentiment from childhood to build a corruption free country.
Importance should be given on ensuring transparency and accountability in public resource management and the watchdog capabilities of the civil society, the DC added.
All the UNOs, and members of district and upazila corruption prevention committee, including the journalists of print and electronic media took part in the workshop.
