BTRC asked to increase revenue from Int’l call

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Post, Telecommunication and information Technology Ministry Wednesday asked the telecom regulator BTRC to ensure accountability and transparency in the operation of international gateway (IGW) operators for boosting revenue from international call.
The parliamentary body also passed recommendations to the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to conduct audit of incoming and outgoing international calls, service audit, air- time audit and SIM Box to avert illegal call termination.
The standing committee also suggested necessary measures to the suspended IGW operators on equal and similar policy.
The meeting discussed elaborately the activities of IGW operators and BTRC’s measures to stop illegal use of VoIP.
Committee chairman Imran Ahmad chaired the 5th meeting held at Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban. Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Abdul latif Siddique, Sharif Ahmed, Sheikh Afil Uddin and Hosne Ara Lutfa Dalia attended the meeting.
Post and Telecommunication Division Secretary M Foyzur Rahman Chowdhury and concern officials were present in the meeting.
