BTCL to covert its 7-digit subscribers’ numbers to 11-digit in Savar area

Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has taken steps to gradually convert its subscribers’ land phone numbers into 11 digits from seven digits in Savar area from midnight of October 11 to ensure better services.
As part of the move, it will start converting fixed telephone numbers in Savar, Jahangirnagar University and Savar Cantonment and its adjoining areas, said a BTCL press release.
Seven digits of 774 and 779 groups will be changed to 11 digits of 0222444, 0222449 and 0222909 groups.
The last four digits of group numbers will remain unchanged, according to BTCL.
Subscribers of Jahangirnagar University, Dairy Firm and adjoining areas will have high speed internet facility-Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON). The eight digit GPON number will begin from 24444001.
Thirteen digit number-88 02 224441000-will have to be pressed to make a call to Savar subscribers from abroad.
