Bhangura (Pabna) Correspondent :
Bacterial Leaf Blight (leaf-daze) disease spread on about five hundred acres of Boro field of Bhangura upazila of Pabna district.
It is learnt that the incidence of this disease is highly affecting BhanguraUnion and Austomonisha Union under Bhangura upazila. Farmer Yasin Ali Sarkar of Zabzobia village and Abul Hossain of Singari village, said that about 150 Bigha of land in Boro project of Patial Bill was attacked by bacterial blight disease. As a result, paddy leaves have become faded here. It is feared that 50 to 70 percent of rice would be dried. Farmers also said that after the hail, the outbreak of this rage arose recently.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Nurul Islam said that due to the bacteria ‘Janthamonas Oraiji’, there was a lot of damage to rice. However, water logging in the area causes this disease to spread. So he advised farmers to keep irrigation water in the fields and spray fungal medicines in the fields. As a result, the spread of this disease is now under control. He said to the farmers that the rice is now in the ripening stage. So 80 percent of the crop will be cut off otherwise due to early floods, there can be huge damage to crops.
