The body of Bangladesh Ambassador to Brazil and former Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes is expected to arrive here tomorrow as Brasilia bade him farewell amid a full military honour.
Officials and family sources said a Qatar Airways aircraft would carry him back home early on Monday while he would be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard beside his parents’ grave on the next day.
They said Quayes’s first namaz-e-janaza would be held on foreign ministry premises at 8.30 am where his colleagues would also pay their respect to the veteran diplomat who also served as the top bureaucrat of the foreign office for years.
The body would then be brought to Central Shaheed Minar to be kept there from 10 am to 12 noon to allow admirers to have their last glimpses of Quayes, who also earned repute of being a cultural activist and connoisseur of art and literature.
His second janaza would be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Asr prayers on the same day while ahead of his burial at Banani graveyard the body would be taken to his ancestral home at Pakundia of Kishorganj for a third janaza to be joined by relatives and people in the neighbourhood.
