Body of minor girl recovered in Morrelganj

Dead body of Jannati Aktar, a student of Class-V of the local Manik Mia Balika Madrsa and daughter of one Jalal Shaikh of village Baraikhali under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district was recovered from a canal of the village on Monday in the morning. She was missing on Sunday at 10 pm while she was returning home after attending a Was Mahfil held in the village. Selina Begum, a distant relative of the girl was arrested suspecting her involvement in the murder.
It is reported that after her missing the matter was brought to the notice of the police of Morrelganj PS by her relatives. Md. Rashedul Alam, Officer-in-charge of the PS told the newsmen, being informed of the matter police and the relatives of the missing girl searched her hither and thither till 3 am on Sunday, but no trace of her was found.

On Monday at about 10 am some locals found the dead body floating in a canal near the venue of the Was Mahfil and informed the police of the matter. According to the father of the girl, she was, perhaps, murdered in a preplanned way by some distant relatives in connection with the previous enmity. Md. Enamul Haq Mithu, Assistant Police Super, Morrelganj and Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS visited the place of occurrence. Police recovered the dead body and sent the same to Bagerhat morgue for its autopsy.
