Ariful Islam Mridha of BNP rebel candidate was unofficially declared elected chairman in the shibpur upazila parishad election held yesterday Thursday.
Ariful Islam polled 39513 votes while his nearest rival BNP supported Tofazzal Hossain cast 30213 votes.
A total of six chairman candidate were contested in Shibpur upazila Parishad election in Narsingdi district.
Voting in all the 77 centers of Shibpur upazila parishad was held peaceful atmosphere in the Second phase of the local government body election.
