An accused in a police assaulting case died at the jail ward of Comilla Medical College Hospital on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sabir Khandaker, 38, son of Rafiq Miah, a resident of Sujanagar area of the district town.
Jailer of Comilla Central Jail Majibur Rahman said Sabir was admitted to the jail word at Comilla Medical College Hospital after he suddenly felt pain in his chest early Monday.
Later, he died at the hospital at about 8:00 am.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Khorshed Alam said Sabir was accused in a police assaulting case filed with the police station on April 3, 2015.
