Blogger held at HSIA for defaming Prophet (SM)

Immigration police arrested a blogger from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday night in a case filed under Information Communication Technology Act.
Barguna’s Amtali police station filed the case against the accused, Asaduzzaman Noor, on charge of defaming the Prophet Muhammad (SM) using internet.
The accused, Asaduzzaman Noor, was arrested from the HSIA around 10:00pm and handed him over to the airport police.
Inspector (Investigation) of Airport Police Station Ezaz Shafi confirmed it to the journalists. Asaduzzman was heading for Kathmandu.
Inspector Ezaz Shafi said there was warrant of arrest against Asad. Police just complied with the court order.
Mohammad Shahidullah, Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, said Asaduzzaman Noor used to disrespect the Prophet Muhammad (SM) on Facebook, Youtube and different blogs and online platforms through write-ups and podcasts.
A case was filed against him in January and charges were pressed against him in August and police were looking for him since then.
The immigration police was alerted to prevent him flying from the country, the OC said.
Shahidullah said that another accused Limon Fakir was earlier arrested in the case. The police officer suspected, they are members of an international ring that is engaged in such activities.
