BIWTC contractor shot at in city

A man was injured by some unidentified assailants in the city’s Motijheel area on Tuesday night.
The victim has been identified as Jakir Hossain, 28, a contractor of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) and admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) instantly, police said.
Omar Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of
Motijheel Police Station, said a gang of unknown criminals opened fire on Jakir when he was going to Kamalapur for repairing of his motorcycle around 10:30pm. Jakir was hit by bullets in his head and leg, the police official said.
The victim was selected as BIWTC contractor recently and that might be a reason behind the attack, the OC said.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, he added.
