Bhutan keen to import internet bandwidth from BD

Bhutan has expressed its eagerness to import Internet bandwidth from Bangladesh, sources said.
State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Tarana Halim after visit to Bhutan, says the Himalayan kingdom wants to finalise a deal within two months.
Tarana spoke to the New Nation after a meeting with Bhutanese Information and Communications Minister DN Dhungyel recently. Bhutan will send a delegation within November to set the amount, price and route to take in the bandwidth, she said.
Bangladesh currently has a 200 GBPS connection to the submarine cable – South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SEA-ME-WE 4).
According to Tarana, most of the bandwidth has remained unused.

It is exporting 10 GBPS to India’s Tripura state now through Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited at a price of Tk 94.2 million annually.
