Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) emerged the champions of the EXIM Bank 24th National Men’s Handball Championship when they beat Bangladesh Police by 41-31 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Thursday.
The winners led the first half by 16-13 goals.
Kamrul Islam of BGB scored 13 goals and his teammate Mir Khairuzzaman netted eight goals and their colleague Sudhon Barua scored seven goals.
On the other hand, Mahbub of Bangladesh Police netted 11 goals and his teammate Arif scored seven goals and their colleague Didar netted four goals.
Mir Khairuzzaman of BGB was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Ansar finished third when they defeated Chapainawabganj District team by 39-24 goals in a place-deciding match at the same venue on the same day.
Bangladesh Ansar had a 22-10 goals lead in the first session.
Robiul of Bangladesh Ansar scored seven goals and his teammate Rakib netted five goals while Abdur Rab pulled off seven for the losers.
After the final match Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mohammad Nasim distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
Vice-President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) Hasan Ullah Khan Rana, General Secretary of BHF Asaduzzaman Kohinoor and Assistant General Secretaries of the Federation SM Khalequzzaman Shawpan, Md Selim Mia Babu were present at the concluding ceremony.
