Bangladesh Women’s Football team will face Bhutan Women’s Football team in the first semi-final match of the SAFF Women’s Championship at Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal today. The match will kick-off at 1.15pm (Bangladesh Standard Time).
Unbeaten Bangladesh bagged maximum nine points from three matches to become the Group-A champions.
Bangladesh blanked Maldives by 3-0 goals in their first Group-A match on September 7.
Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan by 6-0 goals in their second Group-A match on September 10.
Bangladesh defeated India by 3-0 goals in their third Group-A match on September 13. India became Group-A runners-up.
On the other hand, Bhutan became Group-B runners-up earning three points from two matches.
Bhutan drubbed Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in their second Group-B match.
Bhitan conceded a 4-0 defeat to Nepal in their first Group-B clash.
Nepal emerged the champions in the Group-B.
After defeating favourites India in their last Group-A match, members of Bangladesh Women’s Football team highly celebrated their victory.
Defender of Bangladesh Women’s Football team Sheuly Azim said, ” We did the right job and determination to be the champions of Group-A. We celebrated our victory in the field. Our total focus is now semi-final. And the semi-final match is very important for us to reach the final.”
Forward Sirat Jahan, who is the main scorer of Bangladesh said, ” Our main target was to play in the semi-final. But we always say that we shall play in the final. And now our target is to do that. Bhutan are good team. We don’t under estimate any team. We want to win the semi-final after retain our consistency.
Head Coach of Bhutan Women’s Football team Kyung Suk Hong said, ” My girls are playing according to the plan. They are working hard. Our hard working is our key to success.”
Hong, who is a female coach said, ” We know about the performance of Bangladesh Women’s Football team in this competition. I watched all their matches. They are one of the stronger team in this football meet. But we are prepared to play against them.”
