Activists of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Monday beaten up a former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist.
The injured was identified as Jitendranath Bhuiyan, a masters students of entomology department.
Sources said that several BCL men beat up the JCD man with iron rods and sticks at around 12:00pm in front of treasurer office of the university. Later, the victim was rescued and taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment. The incidence took place as a consequence of prior BCL-JCD clash on 05 April at university first gate area which left at least 8 BCL men injured.
Although Senior Vice-President of BAU unit JCD Ruhul Amin claimed the victim as an activist of JCD. But Jitendranath denied the claim and said that he is not involved with any political organization.
About the occurrence general secretary of BAU unit Mia Md Rubel said that the force against independence always try to make the educational environment on the campus. BCL men are devoted to protect the campus from those hostile forces, he added.
The victim was a former activists of JCD, said BAU proctor Prof Dr AKM Zakir Hossain. He also said that an investigation will be conducted to find out the cause behind the incidence.
