Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is optimistic to host Twenty20 International matches between Asia XI and World XI to mark the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The two matches were scheduled to be held on March 21 and 22 while an AR Rahman concert was due to take place on March 18.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BCB Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said to the newsmen at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, “We still have plan to host two T20I matches between World XI and Asia XI.”
He said, “The BCB due to the pandemic had to [postpone] the plans that we had regarding celebrating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation. We have not ruled out those plans totally and if the condition allows us we will certainly execute those plans.”
It may be mentioned that BCB will arrange the three-team 50-over tournament from October 11.
BCB CEO said, “The West Indies series [in January 2021] stands as part of FTP commitment and we are taking with Cricket West Indies regularly. It has asked for few information and BCB has provided it to Cricket West Indies.”
