BOA hands over awards to medal-winning sportsmen

Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) distributed its financial awards to Bangladeshi spostsmen who won medals in different international sports events from 2013 to 2015.
BOA President and former Army chief General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan distributed the awards including cheque, crests and bouquets to Bangladeshi sportsmen who earned gold, siver and bronze medals in the international meets during the period at a simple ceremony at the Dutch Bangla Auditorium of BOA on Thursday.
The BOA chief thanked the medal winning Bangladeshi athletes for their feat in the international arena and hoped that they will bring more laurel for the country in future as well as manifest a good results in the ensuing 12th South Asian Games in India.
BOA members, chef de mission of the respective games and the top officials of federations concerned were also present at the function conducted by BOA member Quamrun Nahar Dana.
The silver medalist of the 17th Asian Games in Incheon’ 2014 Bangladesh women’s cricket team received the highest amount of Tk 10 lakh, the bronze medalist of the same games Bangladesh men’s cricket team got Tk 5 lakh while the bronze medalist of the games Bangladesh women’s Kabaddi team are richer with Tk 5 lakh.
The silver medalist of the 20th Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 shooter Abdullah Hel Baki received Tk 5 lakh, gold medalist of 5th Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa 2015 archer Tamimul Islam got Tk 4 lakh, bronze medalist of the same games archer Nandini Khan Swapna received Tk 1 lakh.
Besides, silver medalist of 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in Indonesia in 2013 archer Imdadul Haque Milon received Tk 2 lakh and bronze medalist of the same games in Twekwondo Sraboni Biswas got Tk 1 lakh as prize money.
