Bashundhara Kings billed in Group-D of AFC Cup

Bashundhara Kings of Bangladesh have been billed in Group-D of AFC Cup. The other teams of Group-D are: ATK Mohan Bagan of India, Maziya S& RC of Maldives and a play-off winner.
The draw ceremony of the group of AFC Cup was held on Wednesday.
Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings AFC Cup campaign was came to an end after playing a match last year. Banshundhara Kings, TC Sports of Maldives, Maziya S& RC of Maldives, Chennai FC were in Group-E. Bashundhara Kings thrashed TC Sports of Maldives by 5-1 goals on March 11, but rest of the matches of Group-E were abandoned due to coaronavirus pandemic.
It may be mentioned that a total of six teams from South Asia zone will battle for the single play-off place in Group-D.
Indian Super League (ISL) team Bengaluru FC will be facing the winner of the qualifying play-off preliminary round one clash between Nepal Army Club and Sri Lanka Police in the preliminary round two. In the other preliminary round two clash, Dhaka Abahani Limited will face the winner of Maldives’ Club Eagles and Bhutan’s Thimphu City. Both the matches will be held on 14th April.
The winners of the preliminary round two will square off in a play-off clash and the winner of that match will join the other three clubs in Group-D.
The 2021 AFC Cup is scheduled to begin with the preliminary round on 6th April with the group stage matches to be held in centralised venues starting on 14th May.
