Defending champions Bashundhara Kings came closer once again to retain the title of Women’s Football League as they dumped Cumilla United Club by 6-0 goals held on Thursday at Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.
In the day’s match, Shamsunnahar Jr. scored a brace while captain Sabina Khatun, Monika Chakma, Tohura Khatun and Ritu Porna supported her with a lone goal each in the one-sided affairs after leading the first half by 1-0 goal.
Sabina Khatun opened an account scoring the first goal for Bashundhara Kings in the 15th minute while after the breather the star-studded side Bashundhara Kings came to the field in a more organized way and scored the remaining five goals maintaining their all-win record in the league.
Shamsunnahar Jr doubled the lead scoring the second goal for the holders in the 56th minute while Monika Chakma further increased the margin scoring the third goal for Bashundhara in the 68th minute of the match.
Tohura Khatun joined the party scoring the fourth goal for Bashundhara in the 72nd minute while Ritu Porna further widened the margin scoring the fifth goal for Bashundhara in the 81st minute.
Shamsunnahar Jr completed the winners’ tally scoring her second and sixth goal for Bashundhara in the 90+1st minute of the match.
 With the day’s win, Bashundhara Kings extended their lead to 36 points from 12 matches and they will need only a draw in their next match to retain the title of the league.
On the other hand, Cumilla United Club remained at their previous credit of 15 points playing 13 outings.
Bashundhara Kings will play against Jamalpur Kacharipara Akados while Cumilla United face Nasrin Sports Academy in their next respective matches scheduled to be held on Saturday (July 17) at the same venue.
