Barishal MP Pankaj Nath stripped of AL posts

The ruling Awami League has removed its MP from Barishal-4, (Hijla-Mehendiganj), Pankaj Debnath, from all party posts for violating the party discipline.
The party central office sent a letter informing the matter to Barishal district unit AL President, Abul Hasnat Abdullah, MP, and General Secretary Talukder Mohammad Younus on Monday.
Pankaj Debnath was informed about the decision on Sunday through a letter signed by Awami League Central Office Secretary Biplab Barua.
Pankaj Debnath said journalists that he had got the letter but avoided saying details about the matter.
The letter read, “Exercising the powers given by it in line with the party’s charter, the Executive Council of Awami League has removed you (Pankaj Debnath) from the position of ‘Member of the Advisory Council of Barishal district unit of Awami League’ and all other posts of the party on charges of violating the party’s discipline.”
“Your written reply on the above mentioned matter is requested to be submitted to the central office within the next 15 days,” the letter also read.
Pankaj Debnath was also hold the post of General Secretary of Awami Swechhasebak League, a front wing of the ruling Awami League.
