Taposh wants death penalty of DSCC driver

Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has said he also wants death penalty of the truck driver who is allegedly liable for Naim’s death.
The mayor came up with the comment while consoling the agitating students, who are protesting the death of Notre Dame College student Naim Hasan, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
Earlier, the students of Notre Dame College took position in front of Nagar Bhaban since Thursday noon protesting the death of their classmate Naim Hasan. At around 4.30 pm, Mayor Taposh came out of his office room and talked to the students.
Addressing the students, Mayor Taposh said, “Naim is like his children. I want the guilty people who caused Naim’s death to be hanged.”
The mayor expressed solidarity with the demands of the agitating students and said he will investigate and take steps against those people who are involved in garbage truck management irregularities.
Taposh in his speech assured a foot over bridge named ‘Shaheed Naim’ will be constructed within a year at Gulistan where student Naim was killed with the funding of the city corporation.
The mayor said, “I also have two children. Slain Naim is like a child. I agree with all the demands of the students. I also demand the execution of the guilty.”
At that time, the students said, it is not desirable to take to streets demanding half fare on public transport. The mayor said he will inform this to the authorities concerned.
Later, agitating students left the city building after getting assurance from the city mayor.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Naim Hasan, 17, a 2nd-year student of Notre Dame College was killed when a garbage truck of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) hit him at Golchattar in the city’s Gulistan area.
