NCL final round: Barisal score 323/1 against Chittagong on Day 1 Nafees, Fazle hit tons

A brilliant unbeaten stand of 279 runs involving two individual centuries by Shahriar Nafees and Fazle Mahmud enhanced Barisal to score 323 for 1 in the first innings against Chittagong on day one in a tier-2 match in the 6th and final round of the four-day 17th National Cricket League (NCL) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra on Saturday.
In the other tier-2 match of the eight-team first class domestic cricket battle, Rajshahi trailed by 134 runs with 8-wicket in hand in the first innings against Sylhet on day one at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna.
Barisal vs Chittagong
Sent in to bat first, Barisal piled up a mammoth 323 for 1, at stumps, in 90 overs.
Opener Shahriar Nafees unbeaten century of 158 runs came off 258 balls involving 20 fours and one six.
Skipper Fazle Mahmud hit another unbeaten century for the side scoring 128 runs off 261 balls with 20 boundaries.
Shahin Hossain (25) was the other scorer for Barisal.
Dolar Mahmud took the only wickets for Chittagong for 66 runs.
Rajshahi vs Sylhet
Sent in to bat first, Sylhet were bundled out for a meager 176 runs in 60.3 overs.
Number nine batsman Nasum Ahmed scored team highest 59 runs off 75 balls with 10 fours while Ezaz Ahmed (20), Ruman Ahmed (19) and Sayem Alam (18) were the other considerable scorers for the side.
Moinul Islam and Sunzamul Islam grabbed three wickets each for economic 20 and 39 runs respectively. Farhad Hossain took two wickets for 61 runs.
Rajshahi opened the first innings and at stumps scoring 42 for 2 in 8.1 overs.
Skipper Junaid Siddique was out for 29 runs. Farhad Hossain and Jubair Ahmed were on batting scoring 10 and 0 runs respectively when the bails were drawn for the first day.
Imtiaz Hossain and Khaled Ahmed took one wicket each for 2 and 16 runs respectively.
