Asian Games Cricket: Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team in final

Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team reached the final of the Cricket Competition of the 17th Asian Games when they registered an easy 25-run victory over Sri Lanka National Women’s Cricket team in the second semifinal of the Cricket Competition of the 17th Asian Games at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon, South Korea on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh Women made 95 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then they bundled out Sri Lanka Women for 70 off 18.2 overs.
Bangladesh lost their early two wickets for 22 runs. Then Fargana Haque and Lata Mondal contribute together 29 runs for the third wicket stand before Fargana Haque was caught by BY Mendis off HA Siriwardene when Bangladesh’s score was 51 for the loss of three wickets.
Later, Lata Mondal and Salma Khatun added 37 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Salma Khatun was caught by Sri Lankan substitute fielder off SS Weerakkody when the team’s total was 88 for the loss of four wickets.
Lata Modal of Bangladesh remained undefeated with 34 from 43 balls including one four while Fargana Haque hit 22 off 33 balls with one boundary.
Skipper Salma Khatun was the other run getter for Bangladesh who scored 14 off 21 bals.
HH Gunaratne, KD Prabodhani, SS Weerakkody and HA Siriwardene took one wicket each conceding 10, 15, 16 and 16 runs respectively.
Later, Panna Ghosh of Bangladesh bowled a devastating spell and finished as 4-1-10-5.
Rumana Ahmed bagged a couple of wickets at the cost of 11 runs while Salma Khatun took one wicket for 12 runs.
HA Siriwardene and PR Kumarihami of Sri Lanka could reach double digit figures scoring 15 and 11 runs respectively.
Today Bangladesh Women will take on Pakistan Women in the final. The match starts at 11.00 am BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).
