Bangladesh will take on West Indies in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match at Windsor Park in Dominica of West Indies today. The match will start at 11.30pm (Bangladesh Standard Time). Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the match live.
Before today’s match, Bangladesh faced West Indies in 13 T20I matches. Of them, Bangladesh won five games, while the Caribbeans recorded seven victories and rest of the one match was abandoned.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh team travelled to Dominica to play the first match of the three-T20I series against hosts West Indies.
In the five-hour long travel, a number of cricketers and member of the team management felt severely seasick.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury is confident of the recovery.
“They reached safely. We were in continuous communication. No doubt, it was a bad experience for the players. We saw some players suffer while some enjoyed themselves. But the main thing is it was not at all a good journey for Bangladesh,” said Nizamuddin.
“I spoke with team physio Bayjedul Islam and he assured that the players reached safely and that there would not be any repercussions as players will be able to recover after a day’s rest.” he added.
BSS adds: Nevertheless, Bangladesh will draw inspiration from their T20I record against West Indies as they are finding a right combination for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
Last time when Bangladesh toured in West Indies in 2018, they won the three-match T20 series by 2-1 after being swept in Test series, although the T20I series was held in USA. Moreover, while
Bangladesh batting coach Jamie Siddons said the Tigers need to find something between the aggression and caution.
“As a nation, I don’t think we [Bangladesh] have many big players. If you look at players like Jos Buttler, Glenn Maxwell and more, they are over six feet tall. But we have to find other ways too,” Siddons said.
