Sports Reporter :
The players of the touring New Zealand squad will play a warm-up match among themselves today in a five-day training camp at the John Davis Oval in Queenstown. The squad into two teams, would enhance the chances of the Tigers to adjust in the New Zealand condition more.
The cricketers will play this one-day warm-up match at 4 am Bangladesh time.
All-rounder Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who earned a recall to the side for the tour, is missing the both teams. He injured his knee during the first day of team practice in Queenstown.
‘Mossaddek suffered a knee injury during fielding practice with the team in Queenstown’, BCB’s Strength and Conditioning coach Nicholas Lee said. For this reason, he has been kept at rest for the time being.
The Bangladesh squad, however, isn’t big enough to form two complete teams; as a result, the Bangladesh team management has decided to include a total of five local New Zealand players into both sides, as a BCB official confirmed on Monday.
The Tigers are preparing themselves to be on a steady form, to bury the New Zealand ghost this time around, as since they began touring New Zealand, Bangladesh had never won a single match in the Black Caps territory. The current team though is ready to change things this time around.
