FIH Hockey World League Round-1: Bangladesh-Sri Lanka opener today

Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka today in the inaugural match of the FIH Hockey World League Round-1 at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium. The match begins at 3.30 pm BST (Bangladesh Standard Time).A total of three teams are taking part in the hockey meet. They are: Hosts Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.The competition will be held on single league basis. Top one team will get the ticket of the FIH Hockey World League Round-2.regarding the hockey meet, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Thursday. General Secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation Khaja Rahmatullah, Deputy General Manager of Sonali Bank Sabiha Sultana, CEO of Anjan’s Shaheen Mahmud, Adviser (Administration) of ATN Bangla Colonel (Retd) Mir Md Motahar Hossain, Manager of Bangladesh team Anvir Adil Khan, Coach of Bangladesh team Naved Alam, Captain of Bangladesh team Mamunur Rahman Chayan were present at the conference.Sonali Bank has given a cheque of Tk 10,00,000 to Bangladesh Hockey Federation to run the competition smoothly.Anvir Adil Khan said, “The competition will be helped Bangladesh for development. The League will be a practice competition for the upcoming Asian Games.”Chayan said, “We have been working hard for three months in the coaching camp. Our target is to be the champions in the meet. We have a plan. We shall follow the pan to win the matches against our opponents.”Neved Alam said, “We do not underestimate any team. We will win over our opponents and we will be the champions of the meet. Our target is to take 5th or 6th place in the forthcoming Asian Games.”
