Bangladesh has no Covid death for 20 consecutive days

Bangladesh had no Covid-19 death in the last 20 consecutive days till 8 am on Tuesday.
The health authorities of the country logged 26 infections of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours with zero fatality.
The latest number of infection took the total caseload to 1,952,855.
With no new Covid-19 death reported during this period for the 20th consecutive day, the total fatalities from the pandemic remained unchanged at 29,127.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) data showed that daily test positivity rate slightly increased to 0.54pc from Monday’s 0.40pc as 4,745 samples were tested, across the country. On Monday, the number of cases was higher as 30 new cases were recorded.
As per the DGHS data, the mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49pc. The recovery rate rose to 97.19pc as 265 patients recovered during the period.
The country reported only five Covid-19 linked deaths and 1,114 new cases in April. Besides, 14,100 patients were recovered from the disease in the month.
Among the five deaths in the last month, two were unvaccinated patients while three were vaccinated with two doses of the vaccines.
The country logged its first zero Covid death in a single day along with 178 cases on November 20 last year.
On January 28, the country recorded its previous highest positivity rate of 33.37pc, since the pandemic broke out here in March 8, 2020. The country registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 in last year.
