Asia Cup Hockey: Bangladesh finish 6th conceding 0-8 defeat to Malaysia

After a tremendous performance in group stage, Bangladesh miserably finished 6th in the eight-team 8th Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey after conceding a shameful 0-8 goals defeat to hosts Malaysia in the 5th and 6th place deciding match in Kuantan city of Malaysia on Sunday.
This is the worst performance for Mahbub Harun’s Bangladesh in the ongoing Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey after conceding three goals in the first half.
Sufi Ismat Rohulamin scored two quick field goals in the 2nd and 4th minute, Muhammad Haziq Shamsul netted three in the 30th, 44th and 66th minute, Najmi Jazlan netted two in the 52nd and 58th minute while Anwar Rahman scored the other goal in the 56th minute.
In the day’s other match, China became 7th after beating lowly Oman by 7-2 goals in the 7th and 8th place deciding match.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat Oman by 3-2 goals in penalty shootout as the classification match between the two teams was locked in 2-2 goals in the stipulated time.
Bangladesh spoiled the golden opportunity to qualify for the World Youth Hockey in India 2016 after conceding 0-3 defeat to Japan in the 2nd quarterfinal.
In the group stage, Bangladesh started their campaign with a 1-3 defeat against Pakistan, but they came back to the race beating Oman 5-4 and confirmed the quarterfinal berth beating favourite South Korea by 2-0 goals.
Bangladesh team will return home at 11 pm on Tuesday night.
