Motivated Bangladesh face Singapore in the first semi-final of the 5th Men’s AHF Cup hockey scheduled to be held today (Saturday) at King’s Park Hockey ground in Hong Kong.
The match kicks off at 6 pm (local time).
In the day’s other semi-final, Sri Lanka take on host Hong Kong.
Earlier on Wednesday last, defending champions Bangladesh and Hong advanced to Saturday’s semi-finals from Group A. Bangladesh emerged group champions brushing aside Macau 13-0 in their pool A match.
On the other hand, Singapore and Sri Lanka booked the last two tickets into the semi-finals. The Singaporeans defeated Uzbekistan 3-2, while Sri Lanka blanked Thailand 2-0 in Pool B encounters. Both teams finished with seven-equal points from three matches but Sri Lanka topped the table standings on a superior goal margin.
Earlier, Bangladesh confirmed their semifinal berth of the tournament beating Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei, both by 4-2 margin in the Pool A fixture.
