Campus Report :The Economics Department of Hamdard University Bangladesh (HUB) organized a seminar titled ‘Socio-economic Development: Bangladesh Perspective’ at the university auditorium recently. HUB Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Tanvir Ahmed Khan was the chief guest at the seminar while HUB Economics Department Head Prof Dr Zahurul Alam presided over. Khandoker Monjure Kabir, Rakibul Hasan and Md. Imam Hossain, teachers of the Economics Department presented keynote paper. Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Prof Dr Md Sadirul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business Administration, Prof Dr Md Nasim Anjum, and Treasurer Md Rafiqul Islam were the discussants.Main focus of the seminar was on Bangladesh development trends since independence and analysis of relationship between development and good governance. The keynote speakers linked development concepts with Bangladesh realities and emphasized the need for long term-strategic planning and enhanced implementation for poverty reduction, attaining greater success in social sectors, creation of social safety net and social protection for the vulnerable groups.
