SBMCH staff nurse detained after recovering more medicine

Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) detained a staff nurse for interrogation after huge medicine worth TK. 3 lakh was recovered from her custody at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on Saturday afternoon.
Md Asaduzzaman, Assistant Commissioner of BMP in charge of Kotwali Police Station, said BMP raided female medicine ward of the hospital and after recovering huge medicine dtained Bilkis Begum, a senior staff nurse in charge of the ward.
SBMCH authority started operation with help of the Kotwali police station after recovering huge medicine and medical equipments from the pond and house of a fourth class employee’s quarter the SBMCH campus on Friday afternoon.
The ACP said, Bilkis Begum was detained for interrogation as she had no legal right to preserve 7/8 sacks of medicine under her custody.
If Hospital authority would not file any case, then police will lodge a case, he added.
Dr. S M Sirajul Islam, Director, SBMCH, said `authority usually supply medicine according to the daily basis demand notes from the ward. So we yet not know how huge medicine sufficient to fulfill demands of patients for more than three months were issued and stocked in a ward, he added.
`Authority will take action who were involved this crime’ director SBMCH told.
