UNB, Dhaka :Bangladesh confirmed the final round berth in the Men’s Junior AHF Cup Hockey beating their main contenders Oman by huge 7-0 goals in the Islami Bank Men’s Junior AHF Cup Qualifiers at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium here on Thursday.With the day’s creditable victory, hosts Bangladesh qualified for the final round of the Asian Junior Hockey to be held in Malaysia next year as one of two top teams of the ongoing meet.In the day’s match, Bangladesh took lead in the 16th minute from the very first penalty corner as Khorsedur Rahman fired the board with a low hit off a Milon push, stopped by Sarwar (1-0)Forward Moinul Islam Koushik scored the second goal in the 20th minute with a brilliant flick, capitalizing on a free hit of Belal Hossain (2-0)Forward Milon scored the 3rd goal in the 23rd minute with a diving hit after skipper Sarwar’s hit deflected off the pad of Omani goalie Ahmed Shaganah (3-0)Both the 4th and 5th goals were scored by Khoeshedur Rahman in the 30th (4-0) and 35th minutes (5-0) from penalty corners.Fifteen minutes into the second, skipper Sarwar added the 6th goal utilizing a Koushik pass (6-0) while Rabbi Salehin scored the 7th and last goal for Bangladesh in the 69th minute (7-0)Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka while Oman will meet Chinese Taipei in their last group matches on SaturdayEarlier, in the day’s first match, Sri Lanka earned their first victory in the ongoing Islami Bank Men’s Junior AHF Cup Qualifiers beating Thailand 3-2 at the same venue in the afternoon.Surendra Jeyendran put Sri Lanka ahead in the 9th minute,flicking the ball home, off a nice cross from Buddika Peris (1-0). In the 13th minute, Pramudya Fernando doubled the Sri Lanka margin pushing the ball into the post, again off a Buddika Peris cross (2-0). Chakan Boonmee reduced the margin for Thailand in the 23rd minute from a penalty corner (2-1).Surendra Jeyendran scored the third goal for Sri Lanka in the 48th minute flicking the ball home from a neat cross by skipper Shahid Kuthupdeen (3-1)Sombat Tong Om scored the second goal for Thailand in the 59th minute with an angular hit from the left edge of the circle (3-2).
