U-19 Cricket: Bangladesh beat South Africa by 8 wkts to take 3-1 lead

Touring Bangladesh Under-19 team took a 3-1 lead in the seven-match Youth ODI series outplaying hosts South Africa Under-19 side by eight wickets in the 4th match at City Oval in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.
Visiting Bangladesh earlier took a 2-0 lead in the seven-match series beating hosts South Africa Under-19 side by eight wickets in the first match and by 29 runs in the 2nd match at Kingsmead in Durban before they lost to the hosts by seven wickets in the 3rd match last Friday.
In the day’s 4th Youth ODI, South Africa batted first after winning the toss and scored 170 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs with opener L Smith contributing 59 runs off 137 balls hitting one boundary.
Besides, K Venneynne (not out 34), AD Galiem (28), Aaqil Rbrahim (18), PWA Mulder (13) were other notable scorers for the home team.
Mohammad Saifuddin was the most successful among the Bangladeshi bowlers grabbing four wickets for 42 runs while Rifat Pradhan, Sanjit Saha and Mehdi Hasan Miraj took one wicket apiece.
In Reply, the Young Tigers easily reached their target scoring 172 runs for the loss of two wickets in 40.2 overs with 58 balls remaining.
One down Nazmul Hasan Shanta hammered an unbeaten 69 runs off 94 deliveries featuring eight boundaries and was adjudged player of the match.
Besides, opener Saif Hasan made 122-ball 54 runs with six fours, Pinak Ghosh added 24-ball 15 runs including three fours while Mehdi Hasan Miraj remained not out on nine runs off six balls with two fours.
PWA Mulder and BD Gloven took one wicket each conceding 26 and 29 runs respectively.
In the remaining three Youth ODIs, the Young Tigers will play the Proteas team on July 14, 17 and 19 respectively.
The 5th Youth ODI matches will be held at City Oval in Pietermaritzburg, the 6th match at Chatsworth Stadium and the 7th and last match at Kingsmead in Durban.
