Asia Cup Hockey: Bangladesh beat Oman 3-2 goals

Bangladesh beat Oman by 3-2 goals in penalty shoot-out as the classification match of the 8th Men’s Junior Asia Cup Hockey between two teams was locked in 2-2 goals in the stipulated time in Kuantan city of Malaysia on Saturday.
Bangladesh also beat Oman by 5-4 goals in a keenly contested group match last Sunday.
Touring Bangladesh will play hosts Malaysia in the 5th place-deciding match on Sunday at 2 pm at the same venue.
In the day’s other matches, India, the hosts World Youth Hockey 2016, smartly reached the final eliminating Japan by 6-1 goals in the first semi- final while hosts Malaysia beat China by 5-1 goals in a classification match
In the day’s classification match, Roman Sarker put Bangladesh ahead in the 31st minute (1-0) while Salam Al Nofali leveled the margin for Oman in the 64th minute (1-1).
Shafu Al Shatari put Oman ahead just three minutes later (2-1) while Milan Hossain saved Bangladesh from an awkward situation scoring the equalizer in the stopping time (2-2) to lead match toward penalty shootout stage.
In shootout, Farhad Amhed Shetul, Sabbir Hossain and Fazle Rabbi of Bangladesh came out successful while Roman Sarker and Ashraful Islam were failed.
Later, Fazle Rabbi was adjudged man of the match.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh lost golden opportunity to qualify for the World Youth Hockey in India 2016, as conceded a 0-3 defeat against Japan in the 2nd quarterfinal.
Bangladesh reached in the quarterfinal with the 2nd slot in pool-B bagging six points from three matches with two wins and one loss.
In the group stage, Bangladesh started their campaign with a 1-3 defeat against Pakistan, but they came back to the race beating Oman 5-4 and confirmed the quarterfinal berth beating favorite South Korea by 2-0 goals.
