A group of Dhaka University students on Thursday evening hold a candlelit protest at the anti-terrorism Raju memorial sculpture of the university protesting country wide attacks on students who took the streets demanding road safety and punishment of the attackers.
They also sung national anthem and Rabindra Sangeet ‘Muktir Mondir O sopanotole’ to press home their demands.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Chhatra League also holds a protest rally against ‘terrorism’ at Aparajeyo Bangla of the university. Addressing the rally, Bangladesh Chhatra League General Secretary Golam Rabbani said that they identified seven hundred Facebook IDs that had spread rumors during the movement demanding road safety.
‘We talked to ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar about the Facebook based spreading rumours and requested him to take action against the perpetrators’, he added.
He also urged the BCL leaders and activists to resist any attempt to celebrate fake birthday of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on August 15.
BCL central President Md Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon presided over the function.
BCL DU unit’s president Sonjit Chandra Das and general secretary Saddam Hussain, BCL Dhaka Metropolitan North’s president Mohammad Ibrahim and GS Saidur Rahman Hridoy, BCL Dhaka Metropolitan South’s president Mehedi Hasan and GS Jobaer Ahmed, among others, addressed the programme.
