ASTHA project launches Journalist Fellowship programme

To engage media in preventing and responding to Gender-based Violence (GBV), ASTHA project of Ain O Salish Kendra has launched the Journalist Fellowship programme.
As a part of the fellowship, a 2-day workshop had been organised with 17 selected journalists of different reputed print and electronic media houses. The workshop was held on 29th and 30th September at Ain O Salish Kendra Conference Room.
In the workshop, understanding gender stereotypes and gender-based
violence, GBV-related laws and high court verdicts on sexual harassment, multi-sectoral services to address GBV, different aspects of interviewing the GBV survivors, gender sensitive report writing, things to focus during writing reports related to violence and benefits of gender and sexual harassment policy for safe work place were discussed through interactive sessions.
While expressing thoughts about the workshop the journalists said that this workshop was very informative and useful for them to understand how to approach the survivors during interviewing and filing reports through gender lens.
The sessions of the workshop were conducted by Sheepa Hafiza, Executive Director, ASK; Khaleda Khanom, Team Leader, ASTHA, ASK; Qubratul Tahmina, Special News Editor, Prothom Alo; Momy Monzury Chowdhury, Assistant Coordinator, ASK and by some other resource persons.
To organised the Journalist Fellowship programme, Mitali Das, Communication Expert, ASTHA Project, ASK, was in the lead for overall coordination.
ASTHA Project is implemented by Ain O Salish Kendra with the technical support from UNFPA and funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN).
